Limefitt Park is justly reknowned for its commitment to conservation and the preservation of local wildlife. Since 2003 it has been awarded the David Bellamy Gold Award for Conservation every year. Last year was the 5th year in succession and Mark Thomas, the park manager, and his family received a special award in recognition of this achievement from Professor David Bellamy at a ceremony in Manchester.
The park management deliberately set aside large areas of the park from cultivation or development in order to provide a haven a wide variety of flora and fauna. The result is that if you remain observant you will often see animals that are considered rare in more urban environments.
The golden rule is keep still and let nature come to you!
