We are very proud that this web site won the Cumbria Tourism Web Site of the Year Award in 2008.

Here's what the judges said about the entries in general
"We were impressed by the high quality of the entries, both in design and in business approach. All of the sites worked hard to be user-friendly and to promote the many attractions of the county. In order to create as shortlist of the very best sites from an interesting and large entry, we looked for innovation and strong evidence that websites were helping to achieve the company's business plan. Several websites, although eye catching and original, were let down by slow functionality or incomplete sections. In some instances there could have been more links to other sites and a stronger accompanying introduction to these links"
And here's what they said about us
"Judges were looking for a good user-friendly design on a site which related well to the company's business plan. They felt that the owners of Windermere Lodge had put their hearts into the creation of their site, which had huge quantities of information for visitors. There were "things to do on a rainy day", ideas for walks, wildlife to see, gardens and houses to visit, a comprehensive events calendar and much more. In all sections there was imagination and impressive attention to detail. The site was also innovative in several ways. An up to date blog, a visitors' on-line forum and two video tours, showing the area across the seasons completed this impressive package";
We were also delighted to receive a congratulatory letter from the South Lakeland Tourist Action Group who said "your success will act as an example and a case study to others to invest to improve their tourism offer..";
Our nomination for the award
The Windermere Lodge web site was a finalist in the England's North West Tourism Awards 2008. The glittering awards ceremony was held at St George's Hall, Liverpool in October 2008. We lost out to the Manchester Museum of Science and Industry, but were very proud to have been competing in such exalted company.

Windermere Lodge was assessed by Visit Britain in June 2008 and was awarded a four star rating. As far as we are aware, we are only the second lodge at Limefitt to be awarded this level of rating.
The Windermere Lodge web site won the "Content" category of the ROWA Awards 2009
The Windermere Lodges website beat off strong competition from 56 other holiday rental websites from all over the world and 5 other highly professional finalists from Germany, France and Italy. The attention of the awards will help promote not only the lodges themselves but also tourism in the Lake District region, as the site content includes a large amount of local destination information.
John Hobson from Windermere Lodges said "We are delighted that all of the hard work that we have put into the website has been recognised yet again. We won the Cumbria Tourism Website of the Year award last year, and now this International award! We try to cover all the needs that our guests might have on the website to enjoy a perfect holiday in this region, and we are continually updating the site and adding more content. When you get recognition like this it shows that the effort is really worth while! We’re also delighted that it brings more interest and visitors to the Lake District which supports not only our own business but others in the local economy too"
