We are pleased to say that they are not alone in their opinions though!
"Thanks for 7 days stay in your Windermere Lodge. very clean and tidy. I like the bed made up. I was here in WIndermere in my Army days where I served most of my adult life. Last time stayed in a tent. Ha ha ha! Plenty of places to go. Have a good year - thanks John & Linda. Thanks again." - April 2010
"Very comfortable lodge, big enough for 4 adults easily! Wonderful location for exploring the Lakes. Very well equipped.... Would highly recommend Holbeck Ghyll for an outstanding meal and the Royal Tea Gardens in bowness for a lovely Chinese. Thanks for a peaceful and relaxing break" - April 2010
"We have had a lovely time here - the weather has been fantastic and the lodge has been great. Thanks for the walks sheet in the green folder - We went on the Wansfell pike walk yesterday - tiring but very satisfying for the fantastic views of Windermere and beyond! We'll defintely return, and for longer this time... All in all a lovely trip and we will be back for more!" - April 2010
"This is our 5th time in the Lake District and we have had the best weather so far. We have managed two good walks with the children - Orrest Head from Windermere and Todd Crag from Ambleside. It was our first stay at Limefitt Park and it has been wonderful. The children loved the adventure playground and the football pitch, and it felt very safe for them to run around the park. Your lodge is lovely - a real home from home. We are already planning our return trip. P.S. We went to The Haybarn Inn tonight and the food was excellent and it was very family friendly" - April 2010
"John and Linda, we have had an absolutely magical stay in your beautiful lodge. We have experienced all weathers - snow, rain, sleet, hail, gale force winds and warm sunshine! It has been wonderful to see the landscape transform from a snow-covered winter scene to sunlit green in the space of a few days! We have been on some great walks - the best being Aira Force (beautiful and very enjoyable) and we walked through a forest which led us to a breathtaking view at Orrest Head. The lodge has been a great base and we have made the most of the decking area and fun choice of games. Thank you so much for an excellent holiday. We have loved every minute and don't want to leave! We will definitely be returning! Thanks from both of us." - March 2010
"Lovely clean lodge. Good clear instructions. Fantastic meal and service at Mortal Man. Worth a try after a change of owner. Very relaxing and cosy - brilliant!" - March 2010

"We just wanted to say what a beautiful lodge you have here in such a gorgeous setting. We have never stayed in one prior to this week and it is now a top choice for the future. Being 32 weeks pregnant and having recently come out of hospital we were looking forward to a relaxing holiday exploring this wonderful area and that's exactly what we've had! The weather has been dry and even sunny allowing us to go on some lovely walks, hire a boat, and explore Grizedale Forest. our girls (six and three years) have loved every day and the outside decking area was a fantastic safe place for them to play in the fresh air. We are hoping to book again during the spring when baby is born." - October 2009

It's been like a home from home and in a great position to be able to get around some of the beautifulist places in this area. We've had some great meals up at The Mortal Man. really top notch food and good service at fair prices. The weather has been fantastic - we've had all our meals on the decking are and the children have made good use of the lovely adventure playground. The lodge is great and has everything we could possibly have needed - it's been such a relaxing place to bring a baby! The scenery is wonderful and what a perfect location. We really don't want to go home! We couldn't do a lot of walking due to the pushchair but can recommend the South Lakes Safari Park, Mire House lakeside walk (between Keswick and Bassenthwaite) and Fell Foot Country Park towards Newby bridge. We hope to come back soon. Thanks again." - June 2009
"Windermere Lodge is fantastic. We loved our stay here even though the weather hasn't been on our side for the later part. The lodge is so well presented and equipped we couldn't fault anything. The children's toys were great fun for our 17 month old and the games and TV kept us entertained in the evenings. Thankfully the weather was kind to us most evenings. so the decking was great with a glass of wine. We managed to make use of the baby back pack for a short walk which was great. It's lovely to come somewhere that caters so well for small children and not to have to bring half our house with us. If only you could move the lodge closer to Kent! We had a great stay and would love to come back for another stay soon. Thanks loads." - June 2009
"Dear John and Linda, we've had a wonderful stay here in your lodge. It's so well equipped. We've especially enjoyed the kitchen with the huge fridge and dishwasher and the BBQ set too. We finished up the firestarters though! Weather was great while we were here. We climbed Wansfell pike with the help of your map and directions provided, and conquered Scafell pike after watching the Wainwright DVD. We also enjoyed walks around the nearby towns and villages. The Grasmere gingerbread is a must try. It's been a really enjoyable stay here. Thanks once again for all your help. Hopefully we'll be able to return from Singapore in the future. - June 2009

Thank you for the travel cot and high chair - everything seemed stress free. I am from Ireland and feel that scenery of Windermere can easily compete with Ireland. Thank you" - March 2009

“Enjoyed yet another wonderfully relaxing break in your super lodge. Enjoyed even more sightseeing, but a revisit to South Lakes Wild Animal Park was a must with our little one - which provided even more fun second time round. The week has flown by and there are still so many places we would like to visit. managed to dodge the rain for most of the week, although we did embrace it one evening by getting our waterproofs and wellies on and searching for big puddles to jump in (which Joel particularly enjoyed!) around Limefitt Park!. Thanks again for letting us stay in your lodge - it’s been perfect.” - June 2008
"Limefitt Park .... what can I say? I remember the park 40 years ago when it was “proper” camp site!! Thanks John & Linda for the extra comfort the lodge provides. The Lakes are a favourite of ours, lots of walks attractions, villages and towns to explore. then the best - the peace , the tranquillity and spectacular views. Had a perfect week with good weather, food and drink” - June 2008
“After our Golden Wedding celebrations of the previous week we felt we needed a break and this has fitted the bill admirably. Everything seems to have dropped into place to give us a lovely break ... The lodge is great and so is the setting. We finished the week by using the Cross Lakes Experience, park and ride, boat and bus to Hill Top and Hawkshead. Extremely well organised, with friendly staff and able to use our pensioners bus passes! Oh By the way forgot to mention that our 11 year old grandson was with us and he classes it as “cool”. What more can you say ???” - June 2008

Then we managed to cram in the Langdales, Ullswater, Kirkstone Pass, Wrynose Pass, Hardknott Pass (breathtaking!!!), Wastwater, and basically took all the side roads we could find just to see where we would end up. We also visited the wonderful Holehird Gardens (5 minutes away). Free entrance but donations accepted... Thank you again for the use of your beautiful lodge. Will spread the word amongst family and friends.” - May 2008

Even our 8 year old who hates walking was proud of that achievement.” - April 2008

We wouldn’t have had a clue where to go for our walks, but your planned walks were fantastic and well thought out.. It is obvious how much time and effort you have put into your lodge. We would recommend a visit to the Lighthouse Restaurant in Windermere. it has the best meal we have had for a very long time. Weather has been great. Many thanks for making our stay relaxing and comfortable” - January 2008
“What a great place! Everything you need for a break away. It’s rained and rained but we have seen some snow and best of all thunder and lightning over Windermere, viewed from the Belsfield Hotel. Visit the Queens Head to be fed and watered sat by cosy log fires. Will definitely recommend Windermere Lodge to friend and family. Thanks” - January 2008
“After a 6 hour drive it was lovely to walk in to such a well cleaned and comfortable lodge. I’m not sure what we thought it would be like but Windermere Lodge certainly exceeded our expectations. We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay here - The Lakes are breathtaking and there is so much to do. It was our first visit and we will definitely be returning. Thank you John and Linda for accommodating us at short notice. May we wish you a Happy New Year and we hope to be in touch to explore some more” - January 2008
“We have all had a lovely time. The children loved the freedom of the hills. The lodge is very homely and comfortable, with all the little extra that you always need and forget to bring from home. It was lovely to walk in and not to have to get the bottle of Dettol out to start cleaning. I don’t think we have ever stayed anywhere which has been so clean on arrival. Many thanks to you for letting us have the use of your lovely lodge. We would love to bring the children back in the Summer. Thanks again. P.S. What a perfect way to end our stay. We woke up to snow” - January 2008
“Please find enclosed the short questionnaire you asked us to fill in. I was more than happy to give you feedback on the lodge as it proved to be the icing on the cake for our holiday and more than catered for my little creature comforts. In fact I think you and your wife have thought of everything. The lodge was warm and cosy and the rooms were all a good size. We actually ate our meals at the table as a family, that's when we could be bothered to cook of course. Unfortunately the only down side was the weather. We had torrential rain every night and during most of the days but it didn't stop us getting out and taking in some of the breathtaking views. Our sons even had us climbing to the top of one of the smaller mountains and the waterfall was just amazing. We now have some wonderful memories of our time in Cumbria and definitely plan to make a return trip albeit in a sunnier climate. So once again thank you and happy New Year.” - New Year 2007
