"Your lodge is excellent - well equipped, clean, and with everything we needed... We were able to visit all the places we knew - Windemere, Bowness, Ambleside, Coniston, Kendal, Keswick, and lots more. We had quite a few sunny days though cold. Thank you." - October 2008

"Fantastic lodge, home from home. Great location. Would definitely come again." - October 2008

"Thanks so much for letting us stay in your lodge. Terrible weather! Great, can't wait to come back. Nice and warm. Despite the weather we had a lovely time. Really enjoyed the walk to Ing Bridge. Even our four year old walked all the way. The lodge is really well equipped, and we really appreciated the selection of DVDs and games. Thank you again." - October 2008

"Thank you for our lovely weekend. We could not have asked for more. Really nice lodge, well presented and very clean." - September 2008

"We have had the most fantastic two weeks in this beautiful lodge. The weather has been perfect for walking and has only rained once. We think we have walked about 80 miles which isn't bad for two townies! and not a blister!... We have loved the lodge and it is so well equipped. DVDs are great for the evenings too. Queens Head Pub is fab for really great food, but very busy in the evenings so best to book. We have had a wonderful time" September 2008

"We've really enjoyed our stay here and have found the lodge perfect for us and our 7 month old daughter - the DVDs, games and books were a nice touch. We enjoyed sitting out on the decking area admiring the views. Thank you for letting us stay." - September 2008

"We enjoyed our stay in the cabin. Lovely and clean that also had that homely feel. It had everything we needed. It's also very well located and easy enough to get to most places. Even though it rained most of the week we still managed to get out and about, exploring the surrounding towns and visiting White Scar Caves and Holker Hall and the Car Museum when the weather was real bad. In between the rain we visited Aira Force, boat trip to Lakeside to see the aquarium and did some of the local walks.... Overall a great place to stay..." - August 2008

"A lovely, clean, modern and cosy lodge. Everything provided even for a young baby - very happy.... Would love to revisit.." - August 2008

"A big thank you for letting us stay in your lodge. Weather not good, but at least we kept dry!. Laundry facilities are good. Everyone at the Haybarn friendly, worth a visit on a rainy night... DVDs and toys are a good thought. You have spent a lot of time putting together an information folder. We wish you the very best with your lodge. You deserve all the praise in this book. P.S. Rainy night. Bottle of wine. Watch "50 First dates"" - August 2008

"Thank you for a wonderful base in which to stay for our holiday. The weather has been quite good - a bit of rain but it didn't stop us doing anything. We have thoroughly enjoyed it" - August 2008

"Thank you for letting us stay at your lovely cabin. It has made an excellent base and has all of the mod cons which make it so much more relaxing. In general the weather has been pretty good and we have enjoyed some good walking as well as visiting lots of attractions. Thanks again!" - July 2008

"We have really enjoyed our stay in your lovely cabin. It was lovely to walk into a fresh clean and welcoming place. It is ideally sutuated for exploring and the views are spectacular. We enjoyed many cycle rides along good routes and the meals out have been great, especially the Queens Head pub. The pub on site is worth a visit - basic but good food and warm & friendly. We would love to return in the future" - July 2008

"...we have had some lovely days out. We enjoyed the Lake Cruise to Bowness and went on a few hikes - about 10 miles yesterday despite the rain... We have thoroughly enjoyed our break and think the Lake District is beautiful - there is so much to see and do. The Lodge is fantastic - very homely." - July 2008

"Dear Both - We all enjoyed our stay here. We have been lucky with the weather. It only rained today and for a short time. The lodge, as always, is wonderful. Clean, tidy and in a wonderful location. My 84 year old aunt loved it here, We will recommend the Lodge to all our friends and family. Thank you so much for letting us stay here." - July 2008

"Enjoyed our visit to the Lake District for the scenery and peace & quiet. Such natural beauty. Recommended highly. We took in a lot of sight seeing - all wonderful. We didn't really mind the rain, of which we had a lot! Loved the boat trip on Windermere. Also a visit to Dove Cottage at Grasmere and the Beatrix Potter Museum at Bowness. Had some nice meals out - especially at The Lighthouse, Windermere - highly recommended. Also Roberto's Bowness. The lodge is lovely - no complaints. Sorry to have to leave.. Thanks for everything." - June 2008

“Enjoyed yet another wonderfully relaxing break in your super lodge. Enjoyed even more sightseeing, but a revisit to South Lakes Wild Animal Park was a must with our little one - which provided even more fun second time round. The week has flown by and there are still so many places we would like to visit. managed to dodge the rain for most of the week, although we did embrace it one evening by getting our waterproofs and wellies on and searching for big puddles to jump in (which Joel particularly enjoyed!) around Limefitt Park!. Thanks again for letting us stay in your lodge - it’s been perfect.” - June 2008

"Limefitt Park .... what can I say? I remember the park 40 years ago when it was “proper” camp site!! Thanks John & Linda for the extra comfort the lodge provides. The Lakes are a favourite of ours, lots of walks attractions, villages and towns to explore. then the best - the peace , the tranquillity and spectacular views. Had a perfect week with good weather, food and drink” - June 2008

“After our Golden Wedding celebrations of the previous week we felt we needed a break and this has fitted the bill admirably. Everything seems to have dropped into place to give us a lovely break ... The lodge is great and so is the setting. We finished the week by using the Cross Lakes Experience, park and ride, boat and bus to Hill Top and Hawkshead. Extremely well organised, with friendly staff and able to use our pensioners bus passes! Oh By the way forgot to mention that our 11 year old grandson was with us and he classes it as “cool”. What more can you say ???” - June 2008

“Absolutely fantastic holiday. The lodge was outstanding. We can’t wait to holiday there again. We will definitely like to stay at Windermere Lodge. Thanks again!” - May 2008 (by mail)

“Thank you for a lovely holiday. We just relaxed and took in the beautiful scenery around Limefitt for the first day. Then we managed to cram in the Langdales, Ullswater, Kirkstone Pass, Wrynose Pass, Hardknott Pass (breathtaking!!!), Wastwater, and basically took all the side roads we could find just to see where we would end up. We also visited the wonderful Holehird Gardens (5 minutes away). Free entrance but donations accepted... Thank you again for the use of your beautiful lodge. Will spread the word amongst family and friends.” - May 2008

“Well done John & Linda! Your hard work and determination to provide comfortable and well equipped accommodation has been a resounding success ....We have no hesitation in recommending Windermere Lodge to friends and family. Thank you for having us x” - May 2008

“We had a fantastic stay, the lodge contained everything we needed and well positioned to take in the excellent views. A first time in the Lake District, and can’t wait to return. After five and six hour walks, the lodge was a great place to come back to. Thanks for allowing us to stay, and we only hope the next visitors enjoy their stay as much as we did” - May 2008

“Had a fantastic stay in your lovely lodge which was perfect. Great time in the Lakes and sorry to go, but we’ll definitely be back! We can vouch for the Wastwater views and the very scary Hardknott Pass- done once and never again. Even managed to climb Scafell Pike in a mixture of rain, snow and sunshine. Thanks again for everything being so great” - May 2008

“We have had a perfect week staying at Windermere Lodge; a welcome break from life in London. The lodge was the ideal base from which to go out walking - we found it difficult to leave. The surrounding area is stunning with some of the peaks offering views of the entire Lake District. Thank you for letting us stay and we look forward to coming back...” - April 2008

“ A lovely cosy lodge, well equipped in a great location. We had a wonderful stay and the children had a great time. I recommend South Lakes Animal Park, Grizedale Forest and the Pencil Museum in Keswick which are all wonderful days out. Many Thanks.” - April 2008

“Your lodge is lovely and we would love to stay here again one day” - April 2008

“We have had a lovely stay. The lodge is a very comfortable base. We have been very lucky with the weather - a mix of snow and sunshine (the rain overnight). The walks in the guide are very good, but note, if doing them with children roughly double the walk time. Highlight of the week was getting to the top of Helvellyn in the snow. Even our 8 year old who hates walking was proud of that achievement.” - April 2008

“Our first time in the Lake District and what a great time we have had! The lodge has been perfect for staying in. The weather has been good to us. We have been on some great walks - especially Aira Force water falls at Ullswater which was perfect. Your lodge has everything we needed and is on a really good site. Once again thank you for the use of your excellent lodge”. - March 2008

“We have had a great stay and woke up on Sunday to 5 inches of snow. We walked every day and the book was a good starting point for us. Lodge was excellent and a fantastic base. Thanks for allowing us to use your lodge!" - March 2008

“Thank you for providing such a lovely clean and homely lodge. This is the first time my husband has ever been to the Lake District. I came a long, long time ago with school. We have had a fabulous time and the weather has been great. We made good use of the planned walks - Thank you - and particularly enjoyed Wansfell Pike - such spectacular views. We had a bit of car trouble on Thursday, but found the staff at reception very very helpful. We enjoyed an excellent meal the Queens Head just up the road. We had a fantastic holiday and would like to come back soon.” - March 2008

“It’s been a pleasure staying in your beautiful lodge. We are only a young couple and have just bought all our hiking gear for our first trip to the lake District. We wouldn’t have had a clue where to go for our walks, but your planned walks were fantastic and well thought out.. It is obvious how much time and effort you have put into your lodge. We would recommend a visit to the Lighthouse Restaurant in Windermere. it has the best meal we have had for a very long time. Weather has been great. We have been very comfortable and enjoyed our stay in this “immaculate” lodge. Thank you for letting us stay” - March 2008

Everything on hand and with up-to-date equipment. We shall certainly recommend your lodge for friends and family and plan to return again. Many thanks for making our stay relaxing and comfortable” - January 2008

“What a great place! Everything you need for a break away. It’s rained and rained but we have seen some snow and best of all thunder and lightning over Windermere, viewed from the Belsfield Hotel. Visit the Queens Head to be fed and watered sat by cosy log fires. Will definitely recommend Windermere Lodge to friend and family. Thanks” - January 2008

“After a 6 hour drive it was lovely to walk in to such a well cleaned and comfortable lodge. I’m not sure what we thought it would be like but Windermere Lodge certainly exceeded our expectations. We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay here - The Lakes are breathtaking and there is so much to do. It was our first visit and we will definitely be returning. Thank you John and Linda for accommodating us at short notice. May we wish you a Happy New Year and we hope to be in touch to explore some more” - January 2008

“We have all had a lovely time. The children loved the freedom of the hills. The lodge is very homely and comfortable, with all the little extra that you always need and forget to bring from home. It was lovely to walk in and not to have to get the bottle of Dettol out to start cleaning. I don’t think we have ever stayed anywhere which has been so clean on arrival. Many thanks to you for letting us have the use of your lovely lodge. We would love to bring the children back in the Summer. Thanks again. P.S. What a perfect way to end our stay. We woke up to snow” - January 2008

“Please find enclosed the short questionnaire you asked us to fill in. I was more than happy to give you feedback on the lodge as it proved to be the icing on the cake for our holiday and more than catered for my little creature comforts. In fact I think you and your wife have thought of everything. The lodge was warm and cosy and the rooms were all a good size. We actually ate our meals at the table as a family, that's when we could be bothered to cook of course. Of an evening we watched DVDs in the sitting room together, these proved invaluable considering the weather we had. Unfortunately the only down side was the weather. We had torrential rain every night and during most of the days but it didn't stop us getting out and taking in some of the breathtaking views. Our sons even had us climbing to the top of one of the smaller mountains and the waterfall was just amazing. We now have some wonderful memories of our time in Cumbria and definitely plan to make a return trip albeit in a sunnier climate. So once again thank you and happy New Year.” - New Year 2007
